PV inverter and energy storage manufacturer Sungrow has introduced PowerHarbour, an all-in-one residential energy storage system, to the Australian market at All-Energy Australia 2026. The company positions the product as a response to growing demand for home batteries, which it links to the Australian federal government’s Cheaper Home Batteries Program.
According to Sungrow’s announcement, issued from Melbourne on 28 October 2026, PowerHarbour is built on the company’s “Triple W” value proposition: Win More, Waste Less, Work Faster.
EV charging and AI-driven energy management
The announcement cites Electric Vehicle Council figures showing that battery electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles accounted for 34.5 percent of new vehicle sales in Australia in September 2026. The PowerHarbour Pro range offers integrated EV charging in selected configurations and has been designed with future vehicle-to-everything (V2X) use in mind. According to the company, its AI-driven energy management software schedules household energy use based on weather forecasts, solar generation predictions, consumption patterns and electricity prices, a feature Sungrow highlights for larger homes with high energy demand.
Expansion up to 120 kWh and compatibility with existing systems
Based on figures provided by the company, the system supports PV oversizing of up to 200 percent in applicable configurations and battery expansion of up to 120 kWh with supported combinations of the integrated unit and additional battery clusters. The new SMD battery modules can be paired with compatible Sungrow storage inverters, including selected SHT and SHRS models, allowing existing installations to be upgraded. Modules can be added without state-of-charge (SOC) calibration or pre-charging.
The announcement states that PowerHarbour uses cells of 314 Ah and above and stackable modules of up to 10 kWh with built-in battery optimizers, with a depth as slim as 255 mm in specific configurations. With an IP66 enclosure and C5 corrosion resistance, the system is designed for both coastal and inland conditions, and it operates below 30 dB(A).
Simplified installation
Sungrow says the stackable, plug-and-play design speeds up installation. The EnergyBridge backup unit, included as standard in applicable configurations, consolidates five electrical functions into one product, and is complemented by the plug-in iHomeManager Mini and an upgraded iSolarCloud monitoring platform. Scott Su, Technical Service Director at Sungrow Australia, said the next step is to make solar, storage and energy management work together more effectively.
According to the company’s notes, built-in EV charging is available only in selected configurations and the SHSA-Pro model is marked as coming soon; product availability and V2X functionality depend on local release and compatibility.
