Turkish engineering and technology company YEO Teknoloji has signed a USD 58.6 million contract with Azerenerji CJSC, Azerbaijan’s grid operator, for the turnkey installation, including financing, of a 250 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS). The batteries will be manufactured by YEO’s group company REAP Battery at its factory in Tuzla, Istanbul.
The project will be delivered under an EPC-F (engineering, procurement, construction and financing) model, with financing provided through local banks over a four-year repayment period. Site construction is expected to start shortly, with commissioning planned within one year.
Scope: batteries, PCS, BMS, EMS and grid connection
YEO Teknoloji will carry out the engineering, procurement, installation and commissioning of the batteries, power conversion system (PCS), battery management system (BMS) and energy management system (EMS). The high-voltage substation and grid integration are also included in the scope.
790 MWh in Azerbaijan
In 2025, YEO signed contracts with Azerenerji for two storage systems totalling 500 MWh, which were commissioned in Q2 2026. In August 2026, the company signed a USD 9.5 million contract for a 40 MWh system in Nakhchivan. With the new 250 MWh project, YEO’s energy storage portfolio in Azerbaijan will reach 790 MWh. The project is expected to increase grid flexibility and support the integration of renewable energy and security of supply.
